About Us

Picture
Welcome!

In response to growing national interest and a demonstrated need, Assistance Dogs For All was conceived to eliminate the obstacles preventing qualified assistance and service dogs from being available to the 330,000 Canadians who need them.

In 2011, we began drafting codes, policies, evaluation and assessment programs necessary to support a well-designed and efficient process for identifying/training candidate dogs, and best-fit matching with a suitable handler/patient. In addition, training patients to train their own assistance/service dogs was identified as a priority.  Achieving consensus on these aspects of the this new business model required much effort on behalf of the many reviewers and mentors that supported us during this initial phase.

In 2016, due to the founders health problems, we shifted from training dogs and trainers to training individuals to train their own dogs. But it was slow going, and we decided that a series of webinars available around the clock, anywhere in the world, would help people more efficiently. To that end, we are now in the process of creating a large number of short webinars designed each to answer a simple question that an individual considering a Service Dog might have:

  • Is a Service Dog right for me or my family member?
  • Do I qualify for a Service Dog?
  • What should I look for in a Service Dog candidate?
  • Can I use my own dog as a Service Dog?
  • Where can I find the best candidates for potential Service Dogs?
  • How to Start Your Service Dog Candidate
  • Level-I Training
  • Level-II Training
  • Level-III Training
  • What is needed for Certification and how do I get it?

We are confident that the mission and activities of Assistance Dogs for All (AD4A) offers unique benefits to individuals and their families not available anywhere else in the world. So journey with us, and find out how truly freeing it is to have a self-trained qualified and certified Service Dog at your side!

Sincerely,

Tamara Follett
